Dogs have always been a big part of my life but we had never owned any hypoallergenic small dogs, until now. My family and I are avid dog lovers, and over the years, we’ve shared our home and hearts with some amazing canine companions. I cannot recollect a time in my life, when I haven’t had a canine companion. Well…..that’s not entirely true! I should rather say, I did not really enjoy those times in my life when I have not had a fur buddy. More often than not, I have had one. More recently we had two. And they eventually die. My heart breaks and I promise myself that I will never get one again…and then there’s another to fill in the void. Over time, I have come to realize that only another dog can heal the hurt of losing a dog.
Our last two dogs, Asher, a graceful Whippet, and Simone, a loyal Labrador/Staffy Cross, were more than just pets—they were family. Particularly for me, they were my best buddies. We loved them to bits and cherished every moment of their 14 wonderful years with us. But as much as we adored them, I began developing allergies to pet dander. I often fell ill with frequent asthma attacks, sneezing, stuffy nose, and waking up with bad headaches. On top of that, the constant vacuuming of dog hair from couches, beds, car seats, and carpets became overwhelming. But i loved the pooches and I was willing to put up with all the inconvenience. I was constantly on medication and asthma pumps to control my allergies. When Asher and Simone passed away, the loss was profound. They left a massive void in our home.

Our Journey to a Hypoallergenic Small Dog
My family and I decided, no more!! No more dogs for us!! For a whole year, our home felt emptier than ever. We grieved, unsure if we could welcome another dog into our lives. But one thing became clear—life without a dog just didn’t feel complete. Determined to find a way to enjoy the companionship of a dog without allergies, shedding, or constant cleaning, we began an exhaustive search for the perfect hypoallergenic small breed. After much research, we found our answer in Maple, our adorable Cavapoo. We did consider poodles, maltipoos, Cavachons, Bichon Frise, and many others. But ultimately we shortlisted a toy poodle and a Cavoodle. We picked up Maple because she was available from a breeder closer to our home than the toy poodle. But we never regretted that decision. Maple is purrfect, and so adorable. A perfect add on to our family.

Maple is everything we hoped for and more:
✔ Hardly sheds—No more endless vacuuming!
✔ Hypoallergenic—No more itchy eyes or sneezing fits!
✔ Odor-free—No lingering dog smell in the house!
✔ Friendly, affectionate, and playful—A true family companion!
Bringing Maple into our lives was a game-changer. We finally found a dog that fit our lifestyle, and I realized so many others must be in the same position—dog lovers who:
🐶 Have allergies but still want a loving pet.
🏡 Live in small apartments and need a low-maintenance, non-shedding breed.
👴 Are seniors who want a loyal companion but can’t handle large, energetic dogs.
